Amazon Treasure Truck
First, there was the Google Home Mini giveaway. Then there was the eBay airstream. Now, Amazon is taking their swing at a metropolitan city pop-up vehicle. Originating in Seattle, the Amazon Treasure Truck is decorated with the look of a flashy theater and provides monthly surprise deals in varying urban neighborhoods. As of late, the Treasure Truck is available to people in 25 U.S. cities and soon it will be driving around the U.K.. According to the Amazon site, “At Treasure Truck, we hand-pick our favorite new, trending, local, or delicious items, load them on the Truck, then cruise around town spreading joy for everyone with a smartphone and an appetite for fun.”
Basically, the Treasure Truck is a gamble, but one with no strings attached (minus some extra text messages to your phone). To participate, first you need to download the Amazon app. Then, subscribe to their text notifications. Via these texts, you will receive a weekly deal of what’s available to buy on the truck at a discount. Of course, you don’t have to subscribe to the texts, but that is currently the fastest way to know when deals are available before these “treasures” run out. After you click “purchase,” you will receive an alert for the specific location of the Amazon truck, where you can pick up your deal. Treasure Truck surprises have ranged from 6-oz. filet mignon steaks to NFL football replicas to sold-out SNES Classic.
